Announcing: Don't Talk About Palestine
This Sunday

I’ve been pretty quiet here lately — the big Gaza fundraiser I’ve been running with a group of volunteers has taken up a fair bit of time, and I’m also working on a larger media project that I’ll have more news on in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, I’m throwing an event in Sydney this Sunday riffing off the last year-and-a-bit of journalism I’ve been doing on this newsletter. Don't Talk About Palestine: The Zionist war on civil rights is going to bring together four speakers who’ve experienced threats, doxxing, professional censuring and political and media smear campaigns because of their advocacy for Palestinians and an end to Israel’s genocide.
Featuring human rights lawyer Sara Saleh, poet and political candidate Omar Sakr, activist Elsa Tuet-Rosenberg and artist Rafaela Pandolfini, Don’t Talk About Palestine aims to educate people about the extent of the campaign of Zionist repression currently underway and give them some tools and tips on how to resist it. All money from ticket sales will go towards this Chuffed campaign I’m running, which is distributing funds between more than 80 Palestinian fundraisers.
More broadly, this event is an attempt to do a few different things. One is to illustrate the depth and breadth of the campaign in Australia to repress any expression of solidarity with Palestinians. The second is to demonstrate the ongoing failure of this campaign to silence the people it targets, and thus its fundamental weakness. The third is to bring together a large number of people who recognise the reality of the genocide, refuse to accept its continuation, and wish to contribute to the push back against it domestically.
If you’re in Sydney this coming Sunday, try and come down. There’ll be food, coffee and knafeh, stalls run by Palestinian small business owners, and even a fairy princess to keep little kids entertained. If you’re not in Sydney, we’re organising a livestream so people can watch remotely — we’ll be sending out instructions to ticketholders this week on how they can tune in.

I’ve been dividing my time between a lot of different projects lately, which means this fundraiser I’ve been running for more than a year has experienced a big drop-off in donations.
If you’ve got anything to spare, please consider giving some money to Noor Hammad, a young mum in Gaza, and her baby daughter Hoor. Noor gave birth to her daughter in January 2024, and they have lived through the genocide ever since. With Israel’s blockade making food and basic necessities dangerously scarce, they need support now more than ever.
